Okay so I’ve been playing Little Big Snake on and off for years now and I still keep coming back to it. It’s one of those games that looks super simple at first but then you realize there’s actually a lot more going on than just “eat and don’t die.” I play it on both phone and computer and it’s honestly better than most other snake games I’ve tried, including Slither.
The basic idea is the same as other .io snake games – you slither around, eat nectar and the stuff that drops when someone dies, and try not to crash into other snakes. But this one actually has stuff that sticks with you. You get missions, you can upgrade stuff, there are skins that change with seasons, pets that follow you around, and you can play with friends. That’s the part I like the most. A lot of these games just reset everything when you close them, but here it feels like you actually progress a bit.
Also, when you die you can turn into one of those flying Juja things and fly around. Sounds dumb but it’s actually pretty useful sometimes. And the river on the map that makes you go faster is fun too.
What surprised me is how much they keep adding. New skins come out pretty often, there are different seasons, team mode, dungeons sometimes, and little events. It doesn’t feel completely abandoned like a lot of free games do after a while. I have friends who still play it and we mess around in team mode. The controls are simple enough that anyone can pick it up in like 30 seconds, but you can still get pretty good at it if you want.
Yeah the ads are the biggest downside. If you’re not VIP you see them pretty often, especially after you die. Some of them are long. VIP removes them and gives you some bonuses, but you don’t need it to have fun. I’ve played a lot without buying anything. There are also occasional glitches where the revive screen gets stuck or something weird happens after an ad, but it’s not constant.
Yeah, if you like these kinds of games. It’s free, it’s easy to jump into for a few minutes, and it has more staying power than most pure .io games because of the progression and the friend stuff. My whole family has played it at some point. It’s not perfect, the ads can be annoying, and sometimes the servers feel a bit laggy, but I still open it when I just want something mindless but not completely brain-dead.
You can play it in the browser or get the app. The people behind it are Shockwave / LittleBigSnake. Official site is littlebigsnake.com if you want to check it out.
I’ve tried a bunch of these snake games over the years and this one is still one of the ones I actually go back to. It’s simple, it’s competitive when you want it to be, and the extra stuff they keep adding makes it more than just another Slither clone.
